Gian Piero Gasperini Likely to Leave Atalanta This Summer
Gian Piero Gasperini is likely to depart Atalanta this season amidst increasing tension between the Italian and the club’s owners.
La Repubblica state that while Gasperini’s contract at the club runs out in the summer of 2024, he is considering exiting the club this summer but he wants to stay in Serie A. Tense relations with the club’s owners mean that he is quite likely to depart, with Genoa interested in him and Torino also keeping tabs on his situation.
Alberto Gilardino is leading Genoa back to the Serie A but moving back to the current Serie B side would represent a homecoming for Gasperini. Genoa’s owners, as things stand, would rather hand over the managerial role to Gasperini instead of sticking with Gilardino during their Serie A return.
Gasperini is currently waiting for a meeting with La Dea management to define his future, with Atalanta keeping tabs on the likes of Paolo Zanetti, Ivan Juric, Rafaelle Palladino. A decision will be made soon, but it could be made quicker if La Dea fail to qualify for the top four this season.
