Rangers handed Malik Tillman transfer fee fix as ex-Ibrox star urges fundraising sale

April 4, 2023

Cammy Bell has urged Rangers to sell Glen Kamara and use the money to turn Malik Tillman’s loan spell into a permanent deal after another impressive showing from the loanee.

The USA international now has 14 goal involvements in 25 Scottish Premiership games this season and has become arguably Rangers most important player over the course of the campaign. A transfer fee believed to be around £5million has already been agreed with Bayern Munich with Rangers having the option to buy him, although Tillman himself could decide to go elsewhere despite impressing in Scotland.

But former Rangers goalkeeper Bell believes they should raise money by selling Finland international Kamara after the midfielder became a bit part player over the course of the campaign. Bell does admit that Rangers are unlikely to get the fee they once would have for Kamara, but he reckons any money they make from him should be put towards Tillman.

Michael Beale hasn’t used Kamara much since the Viaplay Cup Final defeat to Celtic in February and he’s regularly been linked with moves away over the last couple of years, but Bell doesn’t believe they will get as much as £5m for him after the season he’s had.

He told Radio Clyde: “I don’t think so. A couple of seasons ago, yes, but at this moment in time they would maybe get a couple of million for him. The £5m mark is probably pushing it.

“They can use the money from moving players on. If they are looking to move players on, and get some good value from them they can use the money to invest in Tillman.

“He is an investment, for me he is a player that is going to get better. On these big occasions he needs to step up, but he is going to get experience of these big games and what it takes to be a Rangers player.”
