Arsenal have Folarin Balogun problem that may see star sold to raise Rasmus Hojlund funds

March 29, 2023

Arsenal will need to work out what to do with Folarin Balogun when he returns from Reims from his loan spell and there could be an opportunity to raise money for Rasmus Hojlund.

Arsenal face a difficult decision with what to do with Folarin Balogun when the England U-21 international makes his return from Reims over the summer but Rasmus Hojlund could offer a solution. Balogun is similar to the Gunners’ current striking options but the 6ft3 Dane would offer a very different threat and funds could be raised by flogging their current player.

Balogun has impressed during his one-year loan spell in Ligue 1 this season netting 18 goals in 29 games. The striker has been central to Reims on-field success this season with the French side recently going on an 18-match unbeaten run under Englishman Will Still taking them to ninth place in the division.

The 21-year-old is set to return over the summer when both parties will face difficult decisions. Balogun is too good to be sitting on the sidelines and deserves regular game time but Arsenal may not be able to offer it. The forward’s profile is similar to current striking options Gabriel Jesus, Leandro Trossard and Eddie Nketiah and is unlikely to usurp their place in the squad.

This is where Hojlund could come in. The Gunners have been among the clubs linked with his signature this week after he scored five goals in two games for Denmark over the international break and he could be on the move from Atalanta over the summer.
