Henning Matriciani makes Germany U21 debut
Tuesday saw Henning Matriciani celebrate his debut in a Germany shirt. FC Schalke 04’s defensive all-rounder played the final 15 minutes as the U21 team drew 0-0 with Romania.
Matriciani showed good energy on the right side of defence during the friendly in Sibiu. “It’s an unbelievable feeling,” the Schalker said after full-time. “I want to keep working hard and give my all in every game I play in.”
Tom Krauß, who played 77 minutes for the U21 as they drew 2-2 with Japan four days ago, was not in the squad for this game. Following discussions with DFB executives, the Royal Blues’ number 6 travelled home from the squad. Following a rest day, the 21-year-old was back in training with his club today.
Král misses out through illness
Alex Král was unable to help the Czech Republic in their 0-0 draw away to Moldova in EURO 2024 qualification on Monday. The midfielder was not in the squad due to stomach pain as Group E’s leaders were held.
