Atletico lose Carrasco for Almeria game with muscle elongation
Diego Simeone will not be able to count on Yannick Carrasco for the next La Liga game against Almeria. Atletico Madrid have announced via their official media channels that their player is suffering from a muscle elongation and his condition is being obseved.
Atletico Madrid winger Yannick Carrasco will be out for Sunday’s game against Almeria because of an overstretched muscle which has kept him out of Atletico’s last two training sessions.
“The midfielder has started physiotherapy work and gym sessions. The reincorporation of the Belgian player to the group is pending evolution,” Atletico announced. They did not specify the footballer’s recovery time.
Carrasco is the latest player out after Stefan Savic was hit with a two game ban. He was given a red card for fighting with Ferran Torres in the defeat to Barcelona.
Diego Simeone is also waiting for news on Jose Maria Gimenez, who did not train on Wednesday or Thursday, but is expected to do so on Friday.
The Belgian winger has played 23 of the 24 matches available this season for Diego Simeone. He has started 15 of them including the last six. He has scored four goals and provided an assist.
