Two ways Barcelona can sign 18-year-old Bundesliga wonderkid

January 4, 2023

Barcelona are well positioned to sign Borussia Dortmund forward Youssoufa Moukoko as early as in the summer or in the distant future.

The team from Catalonia are aware of the fact that from the player’s perspective, there are only two options he want to ponder. First, renew his ongoing deal with the German club that runs until the end of the season, and second, sign for Barcelona on a free transfer in the summer.

The 18-year-old Dortmund forward is seen by Barcelona as a great market opportunity. With a long scope for improvement and a possibility of a free transfer, the Blaugrana are indeed serious about the German.

However, if a report from SPORT is to be believed, the player has his fair share of conundrums about the move. The outlet claims that although he is aware of Barcelona’s interest, he is not clear about the idea of signing for a team that already has so much competition in the attacking positions.

At just 18 years of age, the German striker believes he needs regular minutes and for that, Dortmund are providing the perfect stage. At the moment, Barcelona’s interest is very clear but the player also understands that Dortmund are keen on his continuity.

In case he ends up staying at the Bundesliga team, he wants to include an exit clause so that he could leave any time without any issues.

As far as Barcelona are concerned, their idea is to acquire him for free next summer.

But in case he decides to continue at Dortmund, they could look to activate the termination clause that Moukoko wants in his deal by the time Robert Lewandowski is at the end of his career.

Meanwhile, Barcelona are not the only team chasing the youngster’s signature, with SPORT relaying that the player also has offers from the Premier League as well, but that approach is practically ruled out. At this moment, everyone involved is waiting for the player to make his decision.

At Barcelona, they know Memphis Depay will leave this month or in the summer but in any way, they have Lewandowski, Ansu Fati, Raphinha, Ferran Torres and Ousman Dembele in the squad which will make it difficult for Moukoko to break into the first team.
