13 players could miss Djurgarden vs Chelsea clash as latest Enzo Maresca update given

May 1, 2025

Away from the race for Champions League football – in the final few weeks of the Premier League season – eyes turn back to European action for Chelsea tonight (8pm).

The Blues have now made the trip to Sweden for the first leg of their UEFA Conference League semi-final against Djugarden. Enzo Maresca’s men go into the tie as favourites to make it to the final, but they will have to live up to that tag and put in a performance.

Both teams will look to try and take an advantage into next week’s second leg at Stamford Bridge. But ahead of their first match, both sides have injury concerns.

Chelsea will be without both goalkeeper Robert Sanchez and forward Christopher Nkunku for the game. Both players have not travelled with the Chelsea squad due to injury.

Sanchez got a kick to the leg in Saturday’s win against Everton and has been omitted from the squad as a precaution. Nkunku suffered a small knock in training in the build-up to the match.

The duo will join defender Wesley Fofana and winger Omari Kellyman on the sidelines. The duo will be out for the remainder of the season due to hamstring injuries.

Striker Marc Guiu will not be invovled with the player expected to be sidelined for another week or so due to a hamstring problem. Malo Gusto is also an injury concern with the full-back being forced to sit out last weekend’s Premier League game against Everton.
